The Songmen are rapidly gaining an enviable reputation as one of the country’s finest and most versatile a cappella groups.

Founded in 2007, the group comprises six professional singers who bring a wealth of experience from the worlds of church, concert hall and popular music. Championing works from the old renaissance masters to the works of new, exciting, young composers (several of The Songmen arrange and write original material for the group) their dedication and commitment to perfect tonal blend, colour, and precise intonation, remains evident in whatever style they are singing.

The Songmen in 2010
The Songmen have a busy time ahead and during 2010 they will sing in Tewkesbury Abbey, The 100 Club in London at Limelight, The Cirencester Organ Festival (premiering a new work with the world renowned organist David Briggs). They will partake in concerts for the Salvation Army and the Royal British Legion and sing concerts across the UK for various music societies including Leonard Stanley, Hinckley, Twyning, Twigworth and Macclesfield. Their season culminates this year with a tour of Germany in September 2010 where they will headline the Neustadt-Holstein Music Festival.

Planned Recordings
The Songmen are currently recording their 1st studio album which will include swing, jazz, and popular song arrangements ready for a Christmas time release.
Plans are also afoot to record the three sets of Victoria’s Lamentations in Tewkesbury Abbey in 2011.

Recent Highlights
Recent highlights have included the release of their début CD, All for One, a successful tour of the London area, gala concerts in Pershore Abbey and Tewkesbury Methodist Chapel, Candlelight Vespers in Tewkesbury Abbey and an invitation to study with the King’s Singers in Germany which culminated in a sell out performance at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Lübeck.
